Ron Kurimsky was named the Director of Football Operations for the Red Penguin Athletics “Gridiron Academy” in 2011.  Born in Pittsburgh & raised in Rochester, Coach K. has acquired experience at many levels as a player & coach.  At Rush Henrietta HS Ron played safety & receiver for the longest winning streak in NYS (21-0-1) & back-to-back league championship teams. Ron earned a college football scholarship to California State University, won a conference championship & after professional tryouts in Arizona & San Diego, began coaching at Crespi HS in Los Angeles where he coached future NY Giants safety Sean Williams (Super Bowl XXXV in 2000).  In a move back to ROC, Ron coached five seasons of Semi-Pro football as a coordinator & head coach in Batavia & Rochester, twice named to all-star teams & reached back-to-back NYAFL championships. At Fairport HS Ron coached the secondary & receivers for Dave Lanning.  In 5-seasons at St. John Fisher College Ron was hired as head coach of the JV program & varsity secondary & receivers coach for teams ranked in the top ten nationally & twice won NCAA Empire-8 conference championships.  His interaction with coaches & players from the Buffalo Bills NFL training camps has been a valuable experience.   As defensive coordinator, receivers & special teams coach for the Rochester Raiders professional arena football team, Ron’s experience & passion helped the Raiders win Rochester’s first professional football championships & earned him Atlantic Conference Defensive Coordinator for the All Star game in 2006.  From 2008-2010, coach K. was an assistant coach & strength coach for a rebuilding Penfield HS program & he was recently named defensive coordinator & special teams coach for Dennis Greco (ER) & the Roc-City Thunder Professional Indoor Football team.

Ron has been a guest speaker at camps & clinics in NYS & around the country for youth programs, high schools & other organizations & events such as the National Underclassman Combine, National Football Foundation, the American Football Coaches Association, Camp Good Days & the Roland Williams & Jim Kelly youth camps.  Coach K. evaluates players, establishes goals, improves attitude & focus & develops the skills & training habits necessary to improve technique & fundamentals.  Whether it is coaching, player development, organizing combines, evaluating, creating off-season training programs, or guiding players through the college recruiting process; Coach K. believes character, discipline & a solid work ethic will give every athlete an opportunity to reach their goals & improve & succeed at the next level.  Ron Kurimsky has made it his priority to help the Gridiron Academy evolve & expand within NYS & beyond. 

Ron is also a project manager & works part-time with local law enforcement as a licensed NYS security enforcement officer / manager.
